The Blablabla IS indeed. Raise a glass to political incorrectness!

Two planets meet

Media hell broke loose when Greta Thunberg a few days ago dared to mock global politicians with her ‘blablabla’ speech.

Personally, I thought it was time for celebration. I envy her boldness, her fearlessness.
Because we all know: she’s right. Very, very, right.

Sadly, in Greta’s shadow Vanessa Nakate’s statement nearly went unappreciated: she was making a very good point that all the transition talk was all fine and well – but that indeed the currently powerful nations had zero interest in making energy both available and affordable to underserved communities and nations. Or give people like herself a voice.

And I loved the very politically incorrect admission by physicist-turned-environmental minister of Italy Roberto Cingolani that ‘the youngsters’ were not only right, but indeed had all the right to talk like they talked AND that their message was absolutely – including scientifically – spot on.

There is hope. Maybe not much indeed, but a little bit.

All in all – a good week for climate science, climate targets. The ‘big boys and girls’ start finally to feel the heat.

Doubtless the will not deliver anything of relevance at COP26.

But the fire has some good kindling, and the blaze will arrive without a shade of doubt. The seats will experience a fair but of hot bottoms – and I am truly looking forward to that.

Curious what Greta Turnberg,Vanessa Nakate and Roberto Cingolani said in verbatim?

Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Draghi responded live to Greta Turnberg. Somewhat more ‘politically’ correct 🙂
